San Miguel's New Manila International Airport Project: Philippines Breaks Ground on Mega-Infrastructure

Bulacan Province to House Country's Second Major Airport

Diversified Conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) Embarks on Ambitious Build-Operate Project

MANILA, Philippines - Diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) has officially broken ground on the construction of the New Manila International Airport (NMIA), a sprawling new airport complex located in Bulacan province. The project, which involves the construction, operation, and maintenance of a new airport, is expected to become the country's second major airport, alongside the existing Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The NMIA project is a testament to the Philippines' growing economic strength and its commitment to infrastructure development. The new airport is designed to handle both domestic and international flights, with a capacity of up to 100 million passengers per year. It will feature modern facilities, including a state-of-the-art passenger terminal, a world-class cargo hub, and a dedicated runway for wide-body aircraft.

SMC President and COO Ramon S. Ang expressed his excitement for the project, stating that it will not only boost the Philippines' tourism industry but also create thousands of new jobs and opportunities for economic growth. "This new airport will be a game-changer for the Philippines," said Ang. "It will make our country more accessible to the world and open up new possibilities for trade, investment, and tourism."

The NMIA project is expected to be completed in phases, with the first phase scheduled to open partially before the end of President Rodrigo Duterte's term in 2022. The entire project is set to be fully operational by 2025.
